Laser hair removal uses focused light energy to selectively target melanin (pigment) in hair follicles. The light converts to heat, damaging the follicle enough to significantly reduce future hair growth. It's the most effective long-term hair reduction method available, far outlasting shaving, waxing, or depilatory creams. See what we treat and how we price it on our laser hair removal in Las Vegas page.
How It Works
The laser emits a specific wavelength of light that's absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft. This light energy converts to thermal energy, heating the follicle to a temperature that disrupts its ability to produce new hair. Because the laser targets pigment specifically, surrounding skin tissue remains largely unaffected — though proper calibration for skin tone is essential for safety and efficacy.
Why Multiple Sessions?
Hair grows in three phases: anagen (active), catagen (transition), and telogen (resting). Laser treatment only works on hairs in the anagen phase — about 20–30% of hairs at any given time. That's why 6–8 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart are needed to catch every follicle in its active phase. Our 2026 cost guide breaks down what that full course runs by area.
